The top pins in every category
The most frequently searched keywords
What people are reading or pinning
Audience demographics if you target a specific group of people

How do you use Pinterest Trends to Find Content Ideas?
It’s time to dive in! You can access Pinterest Trends here. This is where we will be spending most of our time today, so it’s time to get familiar with the tool!
How Do I find Trending searches on Pinterest?
When you first access the page, Pinterest shows what’s trending in the United States in the current month as It has Pumpkin Carving Ideas, Fall nails, Halloween Nails, etc., for me (surprisingly, even in December Pumpkin Carving Ideas are popular!) You might see something else trending each month on your dashboard.
Let’s begin with how to get content ideas using Pinterest Trends.
A- Discover Top Trends using the “Trends Type Filter.
When you scroll down, there’s a Filters Option on the left-hand side under Discover what’s Trending in your Selected Region. When you click on the trends filter, you’ll see four options to choose from to get content ideas.
The four different filters are:
Top Monthly Trends
Top Yearly Trends
Growing Trends
Seasonal Trends
Let’s discover what has been trending from the current month to the year.
Purpose of Top Monthly Trends Option:
Using Pinterest's Monthly Trends option, you can discover what's been trending in a particular niche in the past four weeks. By analyzing the latest trends in your niche, you can create content that is relevant to them.
As you can see, the date that Pinterest will be monitoring is: 10/10/2022 - 11/09/2022, which explains why the top monthly trends are Pumpkin Carving Ideas, Halloween Nails, and Pumpkin Painting Ideas….it was almost time for Halloween!
Advanced Tip: Pay close attention to the search volume; for example, Pumpkin Carving Ideas and Halloween Nails are dropping in traffic very quickly (and steeply!), which makes sense as Halloween is over by then. But it’s very important to read the data and use your best judgment!
Purpose of Top Yearly Trends Option:
The best way to reach your targeted audience is to know what they've been searching for over the past year. In addition, an option is provided to let you check out the yearly trends with the aim of finding out what their interests are and creating content around them.
I believe this is a great way at seeing what topics “work” so you know that although you may not go viral immediately, this type of content will build up traffic over time as it’s something people are looking for.
Purpose of Growing Trends
You’ll discover the previous week’s top trends after choosing this filter which helps you get an idea of what your targeted audience is interested in and build your content strategy accordingly.
Note: I find this filter to have the most potential as you may be able to reap the benefits of hopping on a trend and we all know that in the world of social media, those who are able to hop on trends quickly (and consistently) can go viral!
Use of Seasonal Trends
The seasonal trends filter helps event content creators build content strategies for the upcoming days based on seasonal trends. The tool doesn’t show any predictions, but keep an eye on the yearly changes column of appeared results and a graph line.
If there is an increased spike, people will search for such content again before a certain event. So, to reap the benefits of an event, build a solid strategy and post valuable content beforehand.
Attention: Don’t forget to type your Seed keyword in the “keyword” Filter to get relevant content ideas for your niche. I’ve shown the trends without adding in any keywords to give you guys a quick tour!
The seed keyword is your niche's primary keyword around which you can generate content ideas. Suppose you are a travel blogger, so one of your seed keywords will be “Travel Destinations.” content ideas can be beach travel destinations, mountains travel destinations and desert travel destinations etc,.
B-Use of “Interests Filter” for keywords Research
The interests filter becomes handy when you don’t have any seed keywords to get content ideas. It has a long list of broad categories to choose from and discover what’s being searched by the audience. Here’s what you can choose from the interests section.
Suppose you are a food blogger and want content ideas for your blog without placing any seed keywords. Go to the interests section in the filters list and choose “Foods and Drinks.” As shown in the image, a long list of top-searched keywords will help you strategize your content in your niche.
A Quick Reminder:
Don’t forget to apply all four “Trends Type” filters to get different ideas. Here’s the difference between the results after applying the top monthly filters option.
C- Use of “Keywords” Filter in Pinterest Trends Tool
When you already have your seed keyword, you must try to get content ideas using the Keywords filter in the Pinterest trends tool. It will show you relevant keywords if your targeted audience searches for any. For example, if I search by typing the keyword “Blog,” here’s what it shows in the results.
Disclaimer: This tool doesn’t show much data for long-tail keywords. You’ll always need a seed keyword to get content ideas. However, if you want instant keyword suggestions without applying any Trends filter, try this option instead.
That’s how you can get all times keywords for more content ideas. Make sure your seed keyword is not long-tailed again. Otherwise, you’ll get no or irrelevant results.
D- Discover Age, Gender, and Date Filters
Furthermore, Pinterest trends have age, gender, and date filters that will help you find relevant content ideas for a specific demographic, age group, or any targeted number of days by selecting a date range. Suppose you are running a blog to educate your audience on what they should sell in December before Christmas. Type your Seed keyword and select any category from the interests section, as shown in the image.
As we know, Pinterest trends can not predict what people will search for in the upcoming days. But for the following example, we can get an idea of what people have been searching for last year in the same month and build a strategy accordingly in advance.
To get content ideas using these filters, you’ll need to select the Top monthly trends Type and date range of a specific month of last a year. Make your searches based on age group and gender to come up with different content suggestions for your audience.
E- Keywords Real-time Analysis using Trends Graph
In most cases, it is necessary to analyze each keyword shown in the results when looking for content ideas in Pinterest Trends. For example, you may want to know what type of content is already available for a particular search term and learn more about searchers' demographics; this tool also helps you get that information.
Let’s search for the keyword “Blog” by applying the Yearly trends filter to analyze one of its suggested keywords. I have clicked on “Blog Post Ideas,” as shown in the image.
A new tab opens when you click on any of those keywords and shows everything you need to know about it. Here’re the results I got in the new Tab.
This Trends graph tells you the whole story of the keyword and brings some related terms people to search on Pinterest. You may ask a few questions here.
